Florence, MA Social Worker’s Pursuit Of Child Laborers

Time (time.com) has an interesting story about “Joe Manning, a 71-year-old retired social worker from Flroence, Mass…” Joe’s passion has been to track down the people who were child laborers shot by 20th Century photographer Lewis Hine, who did this work for the National Child Labor Committee in the early 1900’s. Check out the story here.

In a nutshell, Joe’s efforts have been to track down the then children in Hine’s photographs, and then show the families what their predecessors looked like…a connection which, for many, was a surprise.
